it’s the latest and greatest episode of Slappy Pinchbottom’s Odd Preoccupation, presented right here for your listening pleasure. i call this one ‘influences’.  this particular assemblage features the voices of peter cook, chris morris, max ernst, paul bowles, ken nordine, laurie anderson, colleen mcelroy, joe frank, michael gerber, william s. burroughs, dave mcbride, and the black pope, with station IDs by steve moore, agent datura and mc hawking, and music beds contributed all unawares by jeffff elder. enJoy!

dear friends,

this week’s show brings us a great interview with New Orleans puppeteers and fabulists the Black Forest Fancies, who have a historically fancy puppet show going on over at the Blue Theater right now called The Pomology of Sweetness and Light. they had some fascinating things to say about the art and craft of puppetry, art and life in New Orleans, the transcendentalist and agriculturalist John Chapman (aka Johnny Appleseed, the subject of their puppet show), and other divers topics.  check out their show if you get a chance!
