brought to you by the information age, such as it is
by slappy on July 12th, 2007
dear friends,
information is the key to this week’s episode of Slappy Pinchbottom’s Odd Preoccupation, information of any and every kind. in Part 1 we feature information from the world of dreams, insanity, and doggerel verse (triangulate on those and you’ll quickly find the capital city of the Odd Preoccupation.) we finish up Part 1 with a segment graciously and unwittingly gifted to us from another possibly recognizable radio program, via the good people of Kasper Hauser.
in part 2, we receive an indirect transmission of information regarding one gregor samsa, presented by franz kafka, who is in turn presented by vladimir nabokov, who is in turn presented by his former student christopher plummer, who is in turn presented by yours truly, Slappy Pinchbottom. then we receive, through direct transmission, the latest episode in our ongoing radio adventure serial, Moon Over Morocco.
part 3 of our program features an excerpt of an interview with james kent, of the great drug news site DoseNation (the full interview first appeared on the Neofiles podcast over at the MondoGlobo Network.) we then have a couple of poems by kenneth koch, with a nice chunky bit of verse in between by r. j. moore — the MEAT of the koch sandwich, if you will, and i KNOW you will. then we transition into the Elk Mating Ritual, as slappy and the Elkmaster discuss the final koch poem and the origins of Moon Over Morocco.

dear friends,
we were privileged this week to have as our guests the talented and funny women of Girls Girls Girls, austin’s only all-female improvisation troupe. their speciality is improvised musical comedy, and they perform some right there live in the studio, taking requests from callers and pinchbottoms alike.
part 1 of the show features a chat about musical improv and the origins of GGG; the ladies then create a theme song on the spot for the Odd Preoccupation, finishing up with a rousing number by the name of “Immanual Kant’s Sweet Revenge”. in Part 2, they perform a trio of improvised tunes based on listener suggestions; these include “You Broke My Heart At The Red Light”, “Lucifer Kitty”, and “Stop Biting, Amelia Rose“. Part 3 features the latest installment ( Episode 8 ) of our ongoing radio adventure serial, Moon Over Morocco. we finish up in Part 4 with another improvised theme song, this one for KOOP radio, followed by an epic musical tribute to wizards and witches. the rousing finale, “Night on Bald Mountain”, leaves us wanting less — less hair, that is!
