slappycasting all types of spoken word madness since 2007

on pleasure, prisoners, and permutational poetry

dear friends,

this week’s Odd Preoccupation starts with a Slappy reminiscence of a particularly pleasurable and introspective shave, followed by a chilled-down version of Sylvia Plath reading her poem Mushrooms. in Part 2, we present a re-remixed excerpt from the book Fourier Series, by Joshua Corey, published by the neo-Oulipean imprint Spineless Books. Part 3 is latest episode of our ongoing radio adventure Moon Over Morocco, and in Part 4 we hear a very topical interview with Sir Arthur Streed-Greebling on the horrors of life as a prisoner of war, followed by a sweet lil’ bit by the master of vocal resonance, Ken Nordine. as usual, the show finishes up with a segue into the Elk Mating Ritual, comprised of minute after long, long minute of absurdist banter between yours truly and the Elkmaster himself.
